Tooth Extraction in Virginia

What Is a Tooth Extraction?

Tooth extractions involve fully removing your natural teeth. They are done as a way to improve or maintain optimal oral health. Some extractions are done because a tooth is painful, problematic, or unable to be treated any other way. Other extractions are performed in an attempt to prevent future problems from occurring, as you’ll find with wisdom teeth. We provide extractions in a relaxed, comfortable, and easy manner in our office.

Contact our Virginia dentists to schedule an appointment. We have dental offices in four locations for your convenience: Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Hampton Kecoughtan, and Hampton Coliseum.

Why Is a Tooth Extraction Needed?

Extractions are always done as a way to help improve and maintain your dental health. We will always offer or attempt other treatments unless asked specifically to remove a problematic tooth. Some of the reasons an extraction is necessary include:

  • Wisdom teeth
  • Severe decay
  • Severe cracks and fractures
  • Loose teeth
  • You want to avoid more complicated treatment
  • Stubborn baby teeth

“Love this office and the thoroughness of the attention to my dental health. Friendly and comfortable atmosphere.”

Who’s a Good Candidate for a Tooth Extraction?

We will perform an examination to determine if you’ll need an extraction. Most patients who need an extraction can safely have the procedure done. We offer anesthetic and sedation options to make the procedure more comfortable for you. Pediatric and adult patients alike can safely have extractions done in our office.

What Happens During a Tooth Extraction?

We begin by administering a sedative or anesthetic as per your request. We then work to remove the tooth in question using specialized tools. The gums may receive sutures to help them heal fully and properly. You’ll go home biting down on a clean piece of gauze to stop any bleeding. You will receive aftercare instructions to help the surgical site heal as quickly as possible. The procedure is easy and done quickly in our office at a time convenient to you. If you experience any type of post-operative problems, we suggest contacting us immediately so that we can provide the treatment that is needed to help in the healing process.

If you would like to come into our office for an extraction, call us today and our staff members can schedule a consultation appointment for you.
