Dental Crowns (Same-Day CEREC) in Virginia

What Are Same-Day CEREC Crowns?

Dental crowns are meant to cover teeth that have been compromised in order to maintain the look and functionality of a particular tooth. When a tooth breaks, cracks, or fractures, it’s considered compromised, and it’s important to have a crown placed. CEREC crowns are made the same day that you come in for your initial appointment. They eliminate the need to come in for a second appointment just to have the permanent crown placed.

Contact our Virginia dentists to schedule an appointment. We have dental offices in four locations for your convenience: Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Hampton Kecoughtan, and Hampton Coliseum.

Why Are Same-Day CEREC Crowns Needed?

You may want or need a same-day crown because you are unable to make multiple trips to our office for just one restoration. CEREC crowns are just as durable as any other crown made in a laboratory, and they’ll last for years. The process is quicker, easier, and more convenient than what you might have experienced in the past with previous crown procedures. You may need a crown if a tooth has broken, cracked, or fractured, or if it has recently had a root canal or a large filling placed.

“I know I’m not the best caretaker of my teeth but they never shame me or make me feel bad. Just genuinely want to help my overall dental health. Highly recommend.”

Who’s a Good Candidate for Same-Day CEREC Crowns?

The majority of our patients who need a crown can safely and easily benefit from CEREC technology. These dental crowns are durable and long-lasting, so they can be placed permanently and won’t need to be replaced for many years to come. We can perform an examination to determine if you’ll benefit from a crown and the best way to go about performing the procedure. Most people who need a crown can, and should, have the procedure done.

What Happens During the Procedure for Same-Day CEREC Crowns?

We first administer a local anesthetic, via an injection, to the area of the mouth receiving the crown. The tooth is then filed down to make a foundation for the actual crown. Digital impressions are then taken and used in the CEREC machine to craft your new crown. The crown is made for you right in the office while you wait. The permanent crown is then placed, and small adjustments will be made to improve its fit and feel. The procedure doesn’t require a second appointment and is convenient for busy patients.
